On the End of the End / The Beginning of a New Beginning

I landed at Southampton airport on Saturday 30th September. A short train ride and I was home. Overall I was away approximately 15 weeks. It was an intense time in which I made it to 50 different destinations spread out across 27 countries. I have now visited every country in the European Union. I had plenty of ups and downs, mainly ups. I met many really lovely people from all over the place. It was a memorable life experience in every way.

Out of all of the places I have visited there are numerous places I would return to, and there are places that I feel I have seen enough of. The world is a large place and there are many more places for me to see. But people ask me what my favourite places were when travelling. Of course all places have their positives and negatives, but my favourite cities were, in no particular order; Amsterdam, Berlin, Stockholm, Riga, Ljubljana, Vienna, Turin, and Paris. Some honourable mentions to Munich, Zagreb and Strasbourg too. That isn’t to say if a city didn’t make it on to the list that I didn’t like it, but those were my favourites.

Most of the time I was walking around exploring the cities but some of the best moments, if not all the best moments, were when I was with other people. Whether it was seeing my friends like Pierre in Paris, Frida and Greg in Stockholm and Berlin, Holly also in Berlin, or some of the many other people I met who I had dinner or drinks with, the time spent with other people is what made me happiest on my trip. Whilst I won’t be able to explore as much back in the UK, what is important to me now is to see my friends, my family and enjoy as much as possible the time spent with them.

I had dreamt for a while about travelling Europe, and dreamt of seeing Messi play for Barcelona, dreamt of meeting new people from foreign places. I have now lived these dreams, which gives a bittersweet feeling. What next? I need new dreams and new goals. There are plenty of places to see and I already know some of the places I want to go next. For now its back to getting some kind of routine and trying to get some more money together for more future trips, and its time to continue trying to make myself the best person I can be. However faltering that process is.

It is the end of this journey, but in life journeys never really end but lead on to new ones. It is time to see what these new journeys bring.

Thank you all for reading and your invaluable support.
